(ContentDesk) November 5, 2005 -- According to a study by the University of Pennsylvania, a child is defined as any male or female under the age of 18, and with that, they have detailed there are approximately 300,000 youth currently at risk of becoming victims of commercial and sexual exploitation. Other organizations have estimated this number is as high as 800,000.According to the 2002 National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway and Throwaway Children (NISMART II), 1.6 million children are estimated to run away from home each year, and it is estimated that approximately 40,000 of those children will have some type of involvement in or brush with sexual trafficking. Many of these victims are abandoned or neglected children who are usually not reported as missing to law enforcement or are runaways from their homes or the foster care system. Based upon an initial review of the available intelligence on child prostitution collected from ongoing investigations, human source information, information provided by numerous local and state law enforcement agencies, and the NCMEC, 14 FBI field offices were identified as having the highest incidence of children used in prostitution. The 14 FBI offices identified were: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, St.

DOING A FOCUSED SEARCHHere are a few pointers that may help you locate a runaway, missing adult or teenager assuming that your suspicions are that they have not been forceably abducted.NORROW THE SEARCH AREAAs best you can recollect, list the missing persons preferences as to where they would go if they had the choice.
Possible destinations could be where they enjoyed going on vacation, where they tried looking for work, where their friends may live ... or where you've heard others from your area have ended up or gone to. We have found that runaways usually gravitate towards known areas, places somewhat familiar to them offering a sense of being able to start a new life. Any tid-bit of information regarding their most likely 'Wanna-be' country, city or town will go a long way in narrowing down an area for a focused search.OBTAIN CLEAR RECENT PHOTOSA good clear recent photo(s) of the person is essential, including a full description of any tattoos, body jewelery etc. Make up several dozen copies of the missing persons photo (Not A Poster) but rather good clean photo quality print duplicates.
On the reverse side of each photo write down your contact details, name, telephone number, email address etc .. so that anyone who has a solid leed can get in touch with you quickly.COVER THE AREA FULLY .. USE EVERYONE'S EYES AND EARSOnce in the suspected area of the runaway, first do a local public records search or have someone do it for you ( Not On The Internet, But An On Site Local Search ) then narrow down your focused search to the most likely spots the runaway may gravitate towards, taking into account their available finances. Start showing and handing out some photos with your contact information, and if you feel some added stimulus could be helpful, offer a cash reward for a solid leed. In most cases with some extra human resources, you could cover a small sized city within a week.USING THE FOCUSED SEARCH METHODWe at Worldezbiz now use our Personal Assistants resources to do Focused Searches worldwide having had a success rate thus far in excess of 70%.
